Rome
For those of you I havent yet called while bouncing through life: I am going to Rome!
I applied for a place in a two week seminar at the KNIR (Kon. Ned. Instituut Rome/Royal Dutch Institute Rome). With my application I had to file a motivation and a list of my grades. Friday I received an email from Rome that told me that I was selected to participate in the seminar :)
I will be going to Rome for two weeks and study the image and imagination of Rome in the minds antique and medieval people. This image has of course everything to do with ancient imperial power and the religious supremacy of Rome over the medieval world. It has been capital of the world for centuries. The seminar is based on antique biographies of emperors, pilgrim guides etc. and I will be taken to the great Roman monuments and museums to study :)
Izzat cool or what? I mean, I eventually want to go for a doctorate and a scientific career... and this is great for my cv! :)
I will fly to Rome Feb 7 and finish the course on Feb 20. I will stay two more days in the city. On Feb 22 I will fly to Geneva and go skiing with my parents. I will be back on March 3.
